A CFA plug can refer to a bottom plug used in Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) piling to keep dirt out.
1. Construction and Piling (CFA Auger Plug)
What it is: A disposable or recoverable cap fitted to the bottom opening of a hollow-stem continuous flight auger.
What it does: It blocks soil, water, and debris from clogging the inside tube of the auger while it drills down into the ground.
How it works: Once the auger reaches the target depth, concrete or grout is pumped down under pressure. The pressure pushes the plug out or opens the side/bottom outlet so the concrete can fill the borehole as the auger pulls upward.
